RIDE KRUG!!

Everyone needs to get out and try the "new" Krug! I rode the entire loop today, it was soft but still fun. We need to get everyone out to enjoy the fruits of a few peoples labor! CH, RT, DC and any others who have put time in at Krug, "THANK YOU"!
Everyone needs to get out and try the "new" Krug! (did I already mention that?) The sooner we get these trails packed down the more people are going to love it and ride it.

CH,
If you were riding today, I hope you enjoyed the web free trails! I ate a bunch of the little furry creepy crawlies for you.

Krug, RIP & Tour of MO

OK, I fully intended to boycott the blog (take my ball and go home) because of the verbal abuse that I was taking about this whole weed-eating fiasco... After all, I am a sensitive fellow ;)_
Well, I did take a bit of an excursion out to Krug over the weekend to kill some time (avoid panting my house) and HOLY CRAP!!! If I was feeling a bit guilty for not putting my time behind a power-tool lately before I saw what all has been done, I sure as hell feel guilty now...
I was dumbfounded by the amount of work that has been done over there, you can't really comprehend it until you get out there and ride it... Awesome!!!!
I particularly like the creek crossings! It flows great, can't Wait to feel the burn while flying through there when there is some hard packed singletrack...
I did get a bit mixed up on top of the park around the "pine tree forest" area, so I never quite made it out where I was supposed to. But anyway, I just wanted to say bravo, nicely done, it looks wonderful...

On another note, RIP (Rapture in Misery) is August 15th, and will be here before you know it. I suggest getting as much saddle time in right now.. Its better to kick your own ass before the race than during! Which will probably be the case anyway, just a suggestion...

Owe, also, for those of you that care, the Tour of Missouri is back ON!!!

One more thing, Ed, I hear the kids bike races were awesome!!

The ToM is an economic boon to the state and our cities...it would be sad to lose it. For those interested, please read the letter below from the Lt. Gov.

Friends,

By now, some of you may have heard rumors regarding Gov. Nixon freezing state funds for the 2009 Tour of Missouri. I would like to share with you the details that we currently have:

On Wednesday, at the close of business, I was informed by the Division of Tourism that the money set aside for the Tour of Missouri was frozen by Gov. Nixon's administration. The state's commitment for the 2009 Tour of Missouri was $1.5 million. Without these funds, which are available and approved by the Tourism Commission, the Tour of Missouri will cease to exist.

At this time, I have requested a special meeting of the Missouri Tourism Commission to evaluate our options and decide what our next step should be.

As you know, we are very close to putting the final touches on the race this year. Our sponsors have invested and we are on track with our fundraising goals. Teams from across the world, the same teams now racing in the Tour de France, have been invited to our state, and communities across Missouri are making great preparations for the race. Contracts have been signed by the state, cities, sponsors and vendors and cutting this funding will leave the state susceptible to wasteful litigation.

Right now, I am urging cycling fans across our great state, and around the world to contact Gov. Jay Nixon at 573-751-3222and tell him to release the funding for the largest sporting event ever held in our state.

I am grateful for the supporters, sponsors, volunteers and spectators who in the past two years have helped generate nearly $60 million in economic impact for our state, and brought over 800,000 visitors to the race.

With your help, I truly believe we can ensure the survival and success of the 2009 Tour of Missouri.

Sincerely,
PeterKinder
PETER D. KINDER
Lt. Governor, Chairman of the Missouri Tourism Commission

Call Gov. Jay Nixon at 573-751-3222 and tell him to save our race!

Kids Tour of St. Joseph

For anyone willing to help and/or bring your kids out to ride, the first Stage of the Kids Tour is this Saturday (July 11) at Hyde Park. Registration starts at 9, rides start at 10:00. All participants receive an award medal and there will be drawings for prizes. The course consists primarily of one loop around the entire sidewalk path.

We'd love to see as much support and presence as possible from the local biking community. Volunteer work will consist mainly of course marshals around the sidewalk throughout the park. Thus most volunteers will be free to leave after the kids finish their rides... likely around 11:00.

Call me (816) 271-4671 if you'd like more info or visit the City's website at www.stjoemo.info
Thanks gang.

THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY!!!!!

Randy, David and I are planning to do some more weedeating at Krug this Saturday morning from about 6 am to around 10 am. If we could get three more people to help out, we could work in three tandems of two and really get through a good amount of trail. Should be nice and cool in the morning.
Please post a comment on this blog if you can help out.
Thanks,
CH
