Gotta hide that last Picture!

OK,

Does anyone know what a mountain bike looks like? I know everyone who has posted here recently must have forgotten. With all the Guitar/Speedo/Mullett/Sissycross stuff, I am not sure if any one even rides a mountain bike anymore! So lets see some "real bike" content.

CX Season Done, MTB coming up....

Sunday marked the end of Cross season. The hippy and I went down and raced the Grote Prijs (have to look it up every time to spell it) last Sunday while all you fools were busy watching the Chiefs get pummeled..

I keep getting complemented my my Knickers! RaceFace for those that care...

It was a pretty neat venue, not far away. I tell you it would be nice to hit up that race earlier in the year when the weather is nice. It is a very spectator friendly venue.
I managed a 4th in the Singlespeed and the Hippy DNF’d…. Unlucky SOB snapped his chain on the last lap of his race while sitting in 3rd… Bummer dude, your still my hero anyway…

Hippy, gettin it!
Some dude that looks like someone we know in a Shores Jearsy...

Put your numer on right side up for crying out loud!!!
Spencer made it on down and hit up Masters and Singlspeed in his trademark cool jerseys and mustache bars…

As the season closes, looking back, I could have done some things better, and things could have been a lot worse. I did notice that my endurance and cardio went down when I got lazy and quit racing two races. Won’t do that again next year, this is training for MTB. Right? Well, I don’t know if it was I got lazy as much as sniffing the podium a couple of times by one spot and thought I would focus on one race instead of surviving in two.

Didn’t work, 4th was the magic number for me most of the time… Close, but not close enough… So it goes…
With all this damn snow, has brought the training indoors which pretty much sucks a big one… I absolutely hate it… After doing some intervals yesterday I realized just to the extent of what a mamby pamby I am when I can’t stand up and crank… Got some work to do this offseason…
Tentative plan is strength training in Jan, dropping weight a little and get miles in Feb, picking up some intensity in March and getting back in race shape in April/May… 2011 hopefully is going to be a stellar year.. I hope all of you stay motivated these next couple months! I know I am going to need all the encouragement/ ass kicking’s I can get come middle February!

Peace….

Last Cross of 2010

Well, we knocked off the rust and headed down to Cross off the old year… Met up and rode down in Derek’s new ride…
Minimal heat, but enough.. Fun ride down and back… I only feared for my life one time.. Not bad Derek, not bad at all… I personally enjoyed the license plate attached by duct tape...
Hippy pulled off a 3rd in the old peoples 4 race… It was nice that at least one of us got at top 3….What in the hell he is doing in this picture here, the lord only knows...
Derek, Spencer and Nate made the trip down, had a good time.. I think anyway…
I ended up pretty disappointed with my performance (read here if you wish), but you know, its still fun even when your getting your butt kicked (which I did)….I enjoyed the course, it was nice to race when there is not a foot of snow on the ground like last year… Apparently, its easier to pedal when clipped in...
The run up was awesome, hurt really bad also.. The flats were deceptively difficult.. I had anticipated that it was going to be fast.. It was, but just soft enough that you had to work at it a bit more than I anticipated..
Looked like a pretty good turnout.. Was a good day all in all….
I missed Epic’s cross in Parkville… One of the boys will have to recap that one for you..

On another note, the Hippy and I were talking on the way home and the KC Cycling scene is lucky to have Roger Harrison. That guy goes all out in these cross races and we are absolutely blessed to have all the pics, etc. that he does.. If your reading this Roger, Thank you!!!

Would love to have you out at the MTB scene.. Pics are harder to come by…
