Krug... Getting Buff!

Just a few pics of Krug from this morning along with one of the guilty ones responsible for the
for getting the trails to this point. Randy and David have been de-nubbing and raking trash in several of the trails near the parking area. I got started on a little bench cutting and blowing off what had been weedeated. All of the trails above the waterfall along with the bridges trail have been blown so far. Hoping to get the entire trail blown this week which will really cut down on the flat tires. After weedeating and blowing things are really starting to look buff.

Am I the only one who hears dueling banjoes when I look at the first picture??

All I read was that there are 'buff' looking things on the trail. That's my favorite tree by the way, right at the top of the last bitch of a switchback. The hippie

Saturday is looking good to get a (one last good ride) in before RIM!

Speaking of which, is anyone even racing in this? I haven't heard crap from anyone other than the three amigos who put their manginas on and are doing a three man team... ;)

I know you have an excuse that your doing all this trail work, etc… Well, actually that’s a good one, Krug is georgous…

So far I have 2 three person teams committed from the team and one solo 6 hr. So, yes, people are racing...Going to pre-ride on Sunday early a.m. doing 3-4 laps...Should arrive at Crowder by 8 a.m. All are welcome for the pain ride with Cameron C. and Travis Donn, I will be trying to stay within a few minutes of those freaks each lap!
I think Cameron and myself will be leaving Tuesday a.m. and heading up to ride Krug for some laps during the day! He has the day off and I am just taking it off no matter what! All are welcome....

Later,

JP

Pre-ride, Crowder....It was a scorcher! The first 3 miles will be some tough climbing...then some cruising, just in time for another climb...Cruise again then one final climb and then you jet to the start finish area...Camping is about a mile from the true action...Doug Long was out there working his butt off to get the course ready...Rode with Cameron, or tried to ride with him, LOL! He thinks it will be a very tough course to race. He also informed me that he has put the word out to the guys at Bikesource about Riding up in St. Joe at Krug. I guess a couple guys were thinking about coming up today? Not sure if they made it.
Well, that is all for now, hope to see you all on Saturday. I hope to arrive between 9:30-10:00 to get everyone registerd!

Later,

JP

JP... Thanks for the update on Crowder... should be fun.
We have had quite a bit of traffic at Krug this weekend so we are definately starting to firm things up on the new sections. Jason took out our lame excuse for a bridge on the bridges trail while riding on Saturday so we rebuilt another bridge there from an older existing bridge. We still have to rebuild the off camber bridge (the old red bridge location) and install another bridge at one of the new creek crossings but other than that and a little bench cutting we are pretty much done with the trail building. Appreciate everyone coming up to ride it.

Big thanks to Randy and Greg for removing the two plank bridge that was previously used at a creek crossing on the old section of the treehouse trail. The planks have been installed at the new creek crossing leading to the tombstone trail. Not easy moving those things but they sure make for a nice bridge.
Guess that just leaves the off camber bridge (old red bridge location) that still needs to be rebuilt. Once that is done, all of the bridges will be complete!!
Thanks again guys.

5 days to RIM!

Jason, Randy and I rode Krug today.
Trails were in very rideable condition even with the rain on Sunday night. Things should be just about perfect the rest of the week so if your thinking about riding, Krug will be in excellent condition.
