Sat. a.m. ride

Thanks for the Satruday ride fellas.. Was fun. Had some new faces out there, which is always nice to see..
Hoppe is still fast as ever, even when his "legs feel dead".. Whatever man!

The HIGHLIGHT of the day was of course, Randy (aka hippy) doing a 5 second endo over his handlebars into the creek bed!!!

So, picture this, a 275 pound man balancing on the front of this 29er wheel for a second or two trying to figure out if he is going...
  1. Over the handlebars
  2. Over to the side
  3. Maintaining his balance and coming back down with his rear wheel..

Well the creekbed had a choke hold on his front tire so it was not going anywhere and over the bars he went. Funniest thing I have seen in a looooooong time!!

It was funny to me too, but only because I landed uninjured (and the fact it was so slo-mo). What a great riding day! So far I've heard mostly positive comments on the new trail. The only negative was from myself and how fast the spiders can remake webs. There are already new webs up on the 2nd freakin lap! How do they do that so fast? We're goin to swope park in KC next Sunday as a preride for the race in a couple of weeks. Anyone up for goin down early Sun morn?

Guys...I will meet you at Swope Sunday a.m. Perfect time to ride, you do not need your bullet proof vest at that time of day...speaking of that, let me know what time you plan on arriving?

I hope to ride Krug next week, maybe come up on Wed.? Not sure yet...Swope race will be for you technical Freaks!

See you soon!

Technical = Close your eyes and don’t stop pedaling

Well, Randy and I made it down to Swope this morning... WOW what a trail they have built down there. Only 3.4 miles so far but the trail is chalk full of some really sweet rock sections geared more towards the full suspension end of the spectrum but we still made it through on the rigid 29er single speeds. Really, really fun and technical... Not quite the power workout that Krug is but with all those rocks it still takes it out of you.
We did four laps and called it a day but not before we played the good samaritan role and helped out this poor girl who had crashed and cut her arm pretty severely.
Anyway great ride though, just wish everyone could have made it.

Guys...sorry I could not ride with you yesterday...I owe you one!! Family duties called...Yeah, that trail is trick to say the least and you really need to have some sort of idea of how to ride a bike to even go on those trails. They need to post a level or there will be more beginners going out on that trail and needing assistance!
Good thing you all were able to help her out...

Talk to you soon!

So, how does it compare to other places as far as climbing and technical rocks? Landahl, Crowder, Perry?

Some climbing but nothing major.
Seems like more rock than anywhere around here... at least an awful lot for the current 3.4 miles they have to ride. Some sections are pretty technical but all is rideable however I'm sure some of the racers will run at least two short sections. I think the 29" wheels will really help out. You can ride it rigid but suspension would be best. A 29er with front suspension would probably be ideal.
It's really, really fun to ride though. Should be fun to race also as soon as everyone starts to spread out.
