Trail clearing at the river

The Crookster and I did about 5 hours at the river today with 2 chainsaws and alot of wet snow. We parked his car at the Highland/Waterworks intersection and went to the Sunbridge parking lot in my truck. That saved walking back to the parking lot after busting hump all day. The trail is free of brush and deadfalls all the way down now. The 1st 3 hours was kinda fun...the 2nd half of our adventure blew monkey balls but we just wanted to get it done. There was alot more work to be done than I thought. Doing that section when it's dry out with a BOB trailer behind a bike would prob be the best plan of attack. My feet hurt and I'm going to bed. RT

Anyone available to get to work on Krug this coming weekend?
I ran it Thursday and it was worse than I imagined. I'm thinking that 2-3 crews of 2-3 people could knock it out in a long morning to a day depending on turnout.

Randy and Dave - Thanks for hitting the River. I hiked most of the trails on Saturday, and the middle and lower trails were in relatively good shape. I think they could be taken care of with a hand saw as time goes by. You guys ruuuule! Sorry about the monkey balls.

Unfortunately, I will have crews going at work 7 days a week for the next 6 weeks give or take - so I won't be doing any sawing or riding till that's done.

Good luck! Thanks again!

You mean you could've taken care of the trails while you were out there? So you're the SOB who just skirts the downed stuff and rides on, eh? I wondered who that buttmunch was

Truth be told, we all aren't working each and every day. If you get some free time and think the trails need some help...get out and take care of it. I agree that Crook needs to get out alot more than he does, but I guess it is all of our responsibility to keep the trails we ALL use clean and clear.

Let's all pitch in and keep em nice. RT

What depresses me is that I'll commute to work everyday, train, and riderideride and Lansen will still hand me a beatdown at will. Lansen not training is about like Hoppe not training. Hoppe will tell you how he hasn't ridden in 10years and still be able to spank you after a couple trips through Corby. Shit aint fair, man, shit aint fair!

This may not be the right forum...but I'm a Minnesotan looking for open trails to play on during the first week of March and am trying to connect with someone in your neck of the woods who can give me the real deal regarding trails and weather. Would I be able to ride at that time or are you all just as cold and sloppy as we are up here? (30-35 degrees and melting snow/ice on our singletrack...) feel free to email me at: playsinthewoods@hotmail.com if you have any advice! Thanks!

Hey "Play in the Woods",

Right now the riding isn't very good. We have a couple inches of crusty snow, and when it melts things will be wet and slimy. The good part is that most of our trails drain fast and dry quickly relative to a lot of trail systems. After a couple days of 60 degrees and sun, almost everything will be rideable.

We got hit with some wicked ice storms early this winter that completely destroyed our trails, but we have most of them cleared now.

Post something when you come to town and there will likely be someone riding somewhere.
