Krug Progress Update

On Sunday Randy, Dave and I weedeated the new trail head section on the north side of the back parking lot at Krug. We then went over and hit the new section of trail that goes around the open field and back up the south side of the parking lot and eventually makes its way over to the gravel downhill by the animal pens. This trail ties into the old trail that (for those of you that remember) used to have the log jump on it and eventually ties into the tree house trail.
Tonight I went back and re-rough cut in an additional switchback trail to rectify what we lost due to the "misplacement" of the boulders. This portion of the trail contains several short switchbacks and is now ready to be weedeated. Once this is done it will tie together the trailhead section and the section to the south so that we can at least start riding these sections to get over to the treehouse trail. This is pretty much all new trail so it will be pretty soft to start but should firm up fairly quickly if we can get people to come up and start riding it.
Also, as was written in a previous post, the new trails above the waterfall have been weedeated and can be ridden also.
Still lots of work to be done but we are making progress.

Craig you have been busy! I personally appreciate the hard work from yourself and others. I plan on doing my part as well in the very near future.
I would love to break in some of the new trails......if I had my bike (cough) Mr. Force.....:)

Sunday in Columbia won't work for me... sorry.
I did get to ride tonight... After a couple of laps through the GSC and Brownie I went up to Krug and rode all the new stuff (that has been weed eated so far)in both directions. Started off at the new trailhead and went around the new parking lot/field perimeter section, rode down the main trail to waterfall and rode the new stuff above the waterfall up to the powerline trail and came back the same route. Pretty soft right now but should start firming up quickly if we can get people on it. Even as soft as it is, it's still a blast to ride and can only get better in time.
Oh yah, Randy you might be interested to know that I rode down the new stuff that ties in the bridges trail as well. Definately needs benching but not as much as I originally thought... Came really close to making the climb back out so it should'nt be that bad once we give it a little shovel lovin. Also need a few planks to bridge a deep dip section on the lower area of the new pine forest trail.

Just had major surgery, performed by Dr. Long (said he used to ride with Randy) so I'll be out of commission for a month or more. Have fun riding the trails folks.. I'll be dreaming.

Hey guys...sounds like the trails are really coming along up in Joetown. I did ride Corby and a portion of the girl scout trails over memorial day with Adam W. and my brother-in-law Randy, who is back in saddle after years off the bike!
Congrats to those who raced in Columbia, I heard from Cameron C. tonight that you all represented well! I did the State RR on Sat. with the guys on the team from Pitt., KS. It was good race, hot, windy, and fast! We finished in the second group 24th and 28th...Gary was 12th ks. rider and I was 14th...Not bad, but not great!
There are several mtn. bike races coming up in July and Aug. I will be going to Emporia on July 19th, July 26th is Columbia, MO. Show me state Games, Aug. 8th or 9th is the Platte River course in NE. and then the Rapture of Misery Aug. 15th, which I have tagged as a team paid entry race. There is the 6 and 12 hr. Team or individual. I suggest the duo 6 or 3 person 12...Myself, Jeff Smikahl, and Gary Mapes will be one team for the 12hr. Let's try to shoot for a team ride on a Monday Night this Month? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks, JP

I guess I suck worse than I thought. Their times don't match mine. My HR monitor and speedo both showed 1:42- 1:43, they show 1:48. That was about the most screwed up unorganized race I have attended. Trails were fun though!

Yah, I had 29 min on my first lap on my watch.... I think their clock started at the expert open class and everything went off of that....

At least that is my guess... No matter what, took my legs 3 days to kind of recover..
