Lovely day for a CX race!!!

Finally! Got some rain and mud for a CX race.. That's the reason I even wanted to do this shit in the first place.... Although, when we went (cat 4) it really was not all that bad yet.. Well, for everyone but Hoppe who apparently lost his bike handling skills...
Here is BoB B. Rooting us on! Pretty cool, I love it you little freak... Bob Fitz came out to cheer us on also. They were all a bit disappointed when they found out you can't buy booze in KS on Sundays!
Here is a pic of Hoppy.... He rolled up to the start right next to me. We started the Cat 4 on the cobbles which were very slick.. About the time I thought to myself "someone is going to bite it on these things".. I see Hoppe get a mouth and shoulder full of wet cobblestone. As he was sliding across the ground he about took me with him... Luckily I stayed rubber side down (Hoppy, its called skllz beeoch)....
Jim passed me twice on the first lap (yes he was counting), seen here climbing the hill the rest of us had to run. Not in a granny gear as he tells us, but I have my suspicions...
JP, went after us, right when the course started to get nasty.. A lap later we see him hobbling up the hill like an old man.. (No offense Jim) He tweaked his hamstring, hope you get to feeling better before Boss Cross buddy.. I know those can be nagging...
Spencer getting dirty!
Now Nate, we all love the fact you came out, but you got to try and ride that shit buddy!!
Jimbo again..
Nate, you have to do better than this attempt. I guess, do as I say, not as I do... Made it up it the last two laps however...
Spencer getting muddy, his second race was when the course started getting really nasty... I think Bob B got a good pic of him after the race, just covered..
There should be more pics posted later... All and all, two of us JP and Hoppe hurt themselves, I had a good race, best placing yet... Top 10 is coming up next...
Derek B came with us, but could not find a pic of him... Looks like everyone had fun...
Not sure when the next races are... What I have found there are some on 12/5, 1/3/10 & 1/10/10...
If anyone knows of any more, please post for us.. These damn things are a blast! Jim even said to me he likes these better than XC races: Thats a bold statement buddy!

That was a blast! I am glad we went before it got to raining hard. And yes I was in the middle ring every time on that hill. It was easier to ride it than to try to run.
If I had not passed you twice (2 times) and trash talked you, you would not been nearly as motivated to do well!
I hope to do a few more of these in the next month or so! Our trails around here might be a mess for a while.

Hay, are any of you going to the CX races this coming Sunday in Lincoln? Can you get beer on Sunday in Lincoln? I may ask Henry to borrow his mask again.

Ice, ice baby! Hammy is a little better, can ride the bike, but cannot jog yet and that means no jumping on or off the bike! I am racing Jingle Cross in Iowa City, IA Nov. 28th and 29th...
The races are always on localcycling.com. So, check that for the rest of the calendar. I am actually in 7th for the Boss Cross series 35plus and Hoppe is leading his division, so gotta race on Dec. 5th, maybe I can get into the top 5? That would be cool...
Series 60 races will finish off the season Dec. 31st, Jan. 3 and 10th...Racing 3's in that series and not sure where I am placed at the moment. But, that 3's shit aint no joke!
I will be in Joetown next Tue - Friday, hope to see some of you boys then...until then, keep riding and I will keep healing for the last races of the year!

Nice pic of my crash Jason... Going down on bricks really sucks.
Anyway, after the crash I had a hell of time lifting my arm so on Monday (at the wifes urging)I had X-rays of my collarbone and luckily they came out negative... Just a sprained shoulder and some bruising.
By Monday night things were getting a little better and by last night it was good enough that I could get back on the bike.
Not happy at all about my short 100
yard race last weekend so I am thinking about going to Lincoln one of the days this weekend but still need to get the ok from the mrs. Not sure If I can swing that and still make Jingle Cross but we'll see.
Great race though for all of you guys who actually finished (that would be everyone but me of course)
Very impressive race by Jason with the 14th place finish and Jim too passing Jason a couple of times (I'm sure the pinch on the ass when Jim went by is what likely induced the 14th place finish!)

Your on your bike already?!?! Damn... Don't get me wrong, I hate to see you hurt, but I was hoping to get some training time in while you were not on your bike... What can I say, I am an opportunist..

I think I am out for those races way the hell out there.
