So, I am checking out some blogs from STL, checking out the MTB seen. There is some fuss over the guy who won our Cat 2 race. Apparently he started with the Cat 1's and he is not a "true" Cat 2 racer. I am not going to point fingers or bitch any myelf. All I have to say is; Dude, you used your state jearsy as a doorstop? I would be wearing that F-ing thing to work all week long had I won it!! Owe, and by chance if this means I get 3rd, you can send my shit to joetown... Click for Blog..
Here is a video of the tricky downhill at Castlewood. This is right from the start. You see the Experts, then SS, then Cat 2 with some marathon folks scattered in between. we are the thrid group to come by (cat 2), I am 4th coming down the hill (approx 3:38 into it). JP is at about 4:18 and hitting a tree! Can't miss it! Don't think he is going to like me very much for posting it, but I can't help it..
Also there is an awesome endo at about, 1:48, by a SS guy...

On another note, UFD has Crocodile Rock set for Perry lake this Sunday. I know Randy and C Hoppe will be back from vacation. Hell, even BradBob said he was going to make it....

Count me in for the Perry race too!

Hey, I will see you boys at Perry! Hope to avoid hitting any trees! My bike would not shift well, middle chainring the entire race at Castlewood...Will race the Epic on Sunday, with some new Ellsworth 26 inch. wheels.
If you look at the West Standings, our boys are all at the top! Keep it up! Hope to creep up there over the next few months????
That dude is a Punk ass for cheating! He even lied in his post, the Experts started, then the Single Speed dudes, and then the Sport Class, so he had a good 8 minutes on our boy J. Doug before our race started. Mark my words, USA Cycling will suspend that dude! He may think it is funny, but they do not mess around!
See you guys Sunday...
JP
Why are race promoters not doing roll call before races? That would keep something like this incident from happening.
Gmapes
Larry, Dave, Mark, Brett and I will be at Perry. See you guys there. Look for the Water Doctor van!
Awesome, This is so cool!
Looks like were going to have Joetown represented very well!
This is going to be fun!
Looks like USCycling made the Cat 2 winner give up his jearsy. Not that anyone is interested...
Where is r5 when you need him????
Hey, the video has been a big hit around work today too by the way. Thanks for sharing the pain, and thank God I didn't talk myself in to that one!
Pain and suffering! That is racing! Looking forward to seeing the crew from Joetown at Perry this weekend. I will have the Ellsworth tent up for all those who want to hang out before the race and gather...I will have the Enlightenment 29er available to mess around on if anyone wants to check it out...I will most likely be racing the Epic on the Rocks at Perry... Later! JP
Why is there always someone in the crowd that pulls stuff like that? I ran into something similar when I was racing dirt bikes,(before you were born Jason!) Had a couple of guys cutting the course in a hare scramble.
Makes you want to cheap shot them!!
Hope to see you all at Perry, it is always a fun ride/race or whatever you want to call the old/fat/slow class.
Oh yeah, Nice crash JP, I give it a 6, the guy on the SS is about an 8. Jason, did I see a foot plant just as you are leaving the screen??
You saw that huh? Yah, you caught me. Did not do it any other lap if that matters...
Was too tired to go fast enough at that point!
Hey, someone help me quiet my own controversy please...what defines a "beginner" when it comes to registering for, say, the Crocodile Rock race? Is it # of races? prior finish places? time spent riding non-competitively? or realistically classing yourself based on your abilities? There is a very real disconnect on this subject in my dillusional little riding group right now.
Just suck it up and race cat 2! Any questions? ;-)
Seriously though, there is not any concrete definitions, how I gather it is that if its your relativly new, do beginner. You start doing well in those, cat up. Lerry needs to go Cat 2 I know that much...Sooo, if your kicking ass in 3 go to 2. so on and so forth.
E.g. I raced cat 2 last year and got my ass handed to me every time. This year, I have been in top 3 so i am going to have to cat up to 1.
I am sure some other folks might have a different prespecitve that have been racing way longer than I have...
Your first sentence is my "teammates" response as well. I don't even want to repeat to Larry the "needs to go Cat 2" part, it'll go straight to his already swollen head. He won't be able to fit it in a helmet before long. I just have to pick which class I want to finish last in I guess. I just don't want to breach some unwritten etiquette.
If you finish in the top 3 for 3 or so races, then it would be time to "consider" moving up. If you win a couple, then I would move up.
The term "beginner" is refering to racing, not really riding.
That explanation is more like it!!! If I even made it on to a Beginner podium at this point I'd be accused of trespassing.
Im racing Beginner!
BRaDbob
Not going to even go there! ;-)
What?
Whatever dude! Racing Cat 3??? Your a big boy, HTFU!!!
I do have one question! Who's bringing the BEER? No cheap shit! Isnt beer provided by the team manager? JP? I like it real cold! Thanks , BRaDbob!
