Trailwork

I'm kinda tired. I guess luggin that chainsaw up and over the hills will do that to ya. Which of you peckerheads will pony up and finish Corby South? 4 of us did the remaining 14 miles of trail over the last 3 days. With all the people I see on the trails, surely some of you can manage to groom South into shape. I've said it many times but it bears repeating...if'n you have the time to ride, you have time to help with the work. Remember, trailwork is the most fun you can have without a rental car or being nekkid! The tired trail hippie

You the man!! I don't own or have any business operating a chainsaw or I'd help. I tried to ride last Thursday and a buddy and I moved ALOT by hand on GSC but were not ready for the destruction we came across. I don't actually check the blog too regularly so never know about the "organized" clean ups. You should think about compiling emails or cellphone #'s to send out mass mailings and messages. I'll help if I know in time. Anyway, thanks again man. I, for one, really do appreciate it.

I will put a list together... Email me your name and phone numbers... jdoug_jt@yahoo.com

Also, let me know if you would be interested in getting together a mtb/trail club. Meet like month, every other month somethihg like that. Pretty unorganized and fun. I am way too lazy/busy to apply for a 501(c)3, so well just have to wing it... We can discuss details later, times, dues, meetings, etc.....

I'm not much of an organizer. I'm about the least formal guy you have ever met. I've always kinda been a 'it needs to be done so I do it' kinda guy. My point is there prob wont be many organized trailwork days. No chainsaw...no problem. Weedeating is big around these parts this time of year. Grab your weedeater, some string and gas, and do what you can. If we all took little bites outta the trailwork, that shit would be done quick and one or two people woulld get to ride more instead of doin all the work. Corby North, Brownie 1 and 2, and Krug are all tooken care of. Girlscout needs some weedeating done here and there but is good to ride. Corby South needs lotsa love to be ridable. The big bridge over by the tennis courts needs rebuilt soon before it falls into the ditch any further. If anyone feels the urge to weedeat South, have at it. Just sayin...the trail hippie

We cleaned up SOME logs and fallen trees etc from south today. We really just got the east end of it done then ran out of daylight and my domestic pass was about to expire. Enjoy another Nick and Larry ride over log pile. We prefer using the fallen material if at all possible.

You guys did a great thing with the log that we have to ride lengthwise on North. I think that is one of the coolest parts of our trails. It shows alot of us what is possible as to what we can ride. See if there is anything like that that can be done on south. Thank you both for the work. The hippie

You mean that you are supposed to ride that log?? I thought it was put there for a rest stop for tired people!

Jimbo, I think our new project might be installing hand rails the whole length of the trail.. Just for you buddy!!

We talked about more stuff like that. I, for one, have a hard time simply clearing the trail. Mother Nature provides the obstacles and we should "enhance" them, not simply eliminate them. We will try to do what we can. We were limited last night by equipment and time. By the way, we rode North, GS and Brownie and they were all in great shape. Thanks again for the hard work! We encountered a couple of kids on a dirt bike on GS and Larry stopped them and told them that motorized vehicles are not allowed on the trails. Does anyone know if we (the City, whoever) has actually clarified any such restriction or are we just going to have to hope the word doesn't get spread to the motorized community? Yesterday it was dry so they probabaly wouldn't hurt anything, but a muddy day could be a very different story. Plus, it puts our obstacle enhancements in unecessary peril as well.

Also, 2 points of clarification:

-We are the Super Eagle Champions, not the Water Doc boys....
-I changed my name to a more appropriate handle that I think suits my abilities.

Padded hand rails would be really nice! Maybe a drinking fountain, so I don't have to carry my 20lb. camelbak.

Motorcycles and four wheelers are prohibited. But we probably should not be to confrontational, just tell them and say we will have to call the law on them if they keep coming back. I wish we could let a fourwheeler go through the trails about once a month to knock the weeds down, that is why GSC is partially clear now.
