Look what I did to this PC-1 chain...

Note the cracked roller barrel in this one.

In this one, several of the barrels had shattered off all together, leaving only the inner bearings. There were probably 15 links like this. As far as I can tell it all happened in one ride. The chain was about a year old, so it had seen a few hard miles on two different bikes (first frame was broken during this chain's life span).
I tell you, those Sram PC-1 single speed chains are tough.... Still, never have witnessed anything like it.

Man, you are hard on frames, components, bikes in general... I wonder if there is any material that frame and component manufacturers use that you couldn't break ;)

You planning on racin' Sunday at Perry?

Welllll.... I don't know yet about the race. I would like to, but I haven't cleared it with the boss yet.

I don't know if there is a bike made that can withstand my wrath. I honestly don't know what I am doing wrong. I hardly ever wreck. I don't jump stuff. I could keep the bike cleaner, but generally I replace parts on a more regular basis. I tell ya, I'm at a loss.

Obviously a case of excessive POWER to weight ratio. I recommend the daily dozen doughnuts and plenty of couch time! You really should race Sunday!

I don't think it's that straight forward Jim. I choose to believe that it is more like a Bermuda Triangle effect, or like that place in England where rocks roll up hill.

I think I somehow channel energy that has a destructive effect on metals. It happens at work too. I stand to close to a machine that is running fine, and with in a couple days it is malfunctioning. If I touch it, forget about it, usually the thing starts losing pieces and letting all it's smoke out of the circuitry right there.

I don't know what it is... Something like the Midas effect, except in reverse... Everything turns to shit.

Makes for interesting posts though, and I have yet to have a dull ride.
