New Trails

Had a pretty successful trail work day. Not sure how far we got, but I am guessing maybe half a mile of brand new trail. It doesn't sound like much, but we were fighting for every inch in some places. Shawn is right, the trails are going to be fast once groomed and packed. I am looking forward to it.

Unfortunately, I see work getting kind of hectic for me over the next few weeks - so my ride updates and appearances might fade abit. However, I will do what I can.

After the craziness calms down though, I am all about the bike.

Shawn is going to try for another trail work day in the next couple weeks. Sounds like with a little help from the bikers, the city might be willing to throw in some resources. That is something new to me... In Lincoln the cithy would put more energy into keeping us off trails than anything else.

Corby is still in good shape, and I might try to ride it tomorrow morning... Depending. Been trying to shake off a cold or something since the cold wet ride on Tuesday. Maybe not one of my smarter moves.

Those are definitely going to be some fun trails and will connect up nicely with the existing trails at Corby. There's still plenty of work to be done and we can use all the help we can get. Keep us posted on any upcoming trail work days. Maybe we can get a bigger crew together and really make some progress...

For the record, I did make it out there and...after 2 pieces of my equipment broking, 3 trips to Lowes, & 1 trip to Shawn's shop... I was able to blaze through approx. 1/4 mile of new trail. I focused on creating a nice & wide corridor and therefore removed all trees, branches, shrubs & vines in the way. I didn't bother with any ground cover. I hope the locals didn't get bothered by my pole chainsaw as I was out there till around 5:30 PM. Good call Rusty on that piece of equipment... I really made a lot of headway once I got the hang of that thing!
I've never really done any type of true trail clearing and I must say it was very satisfying and would have just kept on going if it wasn't for darkness.
Like Lansen & Rusty state, there is still a ton more to do so ya'll welcome to help out.

My life is also going to get crazy from here through the end of year and so don't know what kind of time I can put into trail maintenance and/or riding. Will let you guys know.
